Grade 8 Scratch Paper Art

Grade 8 will soon be starting a scratch art project after learning and reviewing some basic drawing techniques.

Scratch art is etching made easy. We will be using black and white scratch art paper. When a student is drawing, they are removing the top ink layer of the paper with a small metal tool. All you have to do is get your image lightly drawn on top on the ink and begin drawing with the metal scraper tool. The trick here is that when you scrape into the paper, it is like you are drawing with white on black.

Below are some examples of professional artists work.
Stay tuned to see how our students do with this new process!
